Description

THE SPACE Simple one-bedroom garden-level apartment in a small building in the middle of beautiful Capitol Hill. The space has its quirks, but also its charms, and with one of the best Walk Scores in town, you won't need to stray far to find what you're looking for. The apartment has WiFi and basic cable (including TBS and AMC) and a flat screen TV. I also have a DVD player and a selection of movies. Video rental options are just a block away. For music, easily plug your phone or mp3 player into my speakers. The kitchen is stocked with spices, pots, pans, a blender, a microwave and other appliances along with all utensils. The oven does not currently work, so those looking to bake a cake here are out of luck. Need to do laundry? There??s a laundromat 20 feet from the back door. The living room has a couch, coffee table and two chairs. The bedroom has a queen size bed. For more people, there??s plenty of room for an air mattress if you bring one, and the couch will comfortably fit anyone 5'7' or under. SECURITY The building has a secure outer door. All keys will be provided. INTERACTION I'll meet with you to hand off keys and give a walk-through and any advice on the city. After that, the place is yours. I'll be available by phone or email throughout your stay if you have any additional questions. THE NEIGHBORHOOD Capitol Hill is one of the most vibrant areas of the city. Here, you'll see young professionals, established mansion-owners and urban hipsters mingling together. While the neighborhood is a quiet calm place, you??re also never alone on the sidewalks. People seem to be out and about day and night giving the area a welcoming energy. Why is Capitol Hill thriving? Because from here, you can go anywhere. My place is just one block away from a grocery store, a coffee shop and a bike-share station. Whole Foods is two blocks away. For concert-goers, the Ogden Theatre is 6 blocks away. The Fillmore Auditorium is 8 blocks away. The Bluebird Theatre is 2 miles away. The LoDo District and its nightlife are 2 miles away and are easily accessed by taxi, bus or bike. (Denver's bike-share program, B-Cycle, has pick-up locations all around this apartment.) Downtown, the convention area, Coors Field, and several of Colorado??s famous breweries are also about 2 miles away and can be accessed by all the above means. Cheesman Park is a few blocks away. Run the 1.3 miles around the perimeter or lounge on the big open lawn while watching people and enjoying views of the mountains and the city skyline. The Esquire Theatre, showing indie and arthouse films, is two blocks away. Broadway boutiques, bars and restaurants are two miles away. (The best used clothing store for the hipster or the just plain hip is along this stretch.) While down there, catch a movie and drink a craft brew from the bar at the old Mayan Theatre. Any specific plans for the city? Ask me about them and I'll let you know whether they would be convenient while staying here. TRANSPORTATION Denver is an easy city to navigate, as I've learned in my year without a car. Bus stops surround the apartment. Use Google Maps, either on your phone or desktop, by plugging in your location and destination and then clicking the small bus icon at the top. It'll tell you the best public transit route to get where you're going. Want to see the town on two wheels? Check out a bike from the bike-share station a block away and find a drop station just about anywhere in the city. You can experience Denver's urban core by pedaling the nearby Cherry Creek Trail, which runs along a waterway and through the heart of Denver. There are also numerous car-share programs in the neighborhood. If you do have your own car, parking is on the street. During the day and evening, there are usually spots. If you're arriving back to the apartment late, you might have to park up to a block away.
