Located 22 miles south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, the Bay is a few minutes walk from Hale Nani. A marine preserve and underwater wildlife park, Kealakekua Bay has some of the clearest water, healthiest coral, most varied reef fish, and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Hawaiian Islands. One of the oldest churches on the Big Island (as in James Michener's book, Hawaii) is visible from the lanai. On Sundays, if you listen closely, singing in Hawaiian and English is audible. Nearby is the uniquely painted St. Benedict's Church, as is a coffee mill with complimentary tasting, and the City of Refuge (Pu'uhonua O Honaunau), a U.S. National Park and once the home of Hawaiian royalty. Volcanoes National Park is 80 miles from Hale Nani, a pleasant day-trip. Hale Nani is an open and airy tri-level home offering panoramic views of Kealakekua Bay.
