House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible Bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6) Our home on Windmill Beach is truly a sanctuary in that special Lake Michigan environment where you have the beach and shoreline as well as woods and wildlife. Yet it is easily accessible from I-43 and there are many things to do and see in the area. As you drive down the tree-covered private road that leads to the lake, you immediately breath easier. At the bottom of the road is a sprawling beach with Lake Michigan waves as the backdrop. This beautiful sandy beach is shared by just a few families. You can walk for miles in either direction. There's a fire pit and Adirondack chairs on the upper beach. We provide beach chairs that you can set up at water's edge. You are welcome to bring small boats, kayaks, or water rafts. Larger boats must be launched about a mile down the beach. This year-round home is two lots over from the beach and is surrounded by woods. When the lake winds kick up, the backyard is a quiet retreat and great place for a fire. From the covered front porch you can relax and listen to the waves. You can see slivers of lake but the view is partially obscured by cottages across the road. There's always some wildlife to observe, even from inside where there are floor-to-ceiling windows facing the woods. Hiking around the woods, you might stumble upon the old Dutch cemetery or the raptor conservation station. When it's quiet, the deer will actually take a nap in the backyard. Autumn is a crisp and beautiful time here. As the trees lose their leaves, you can see deeper into the woods. It's a great time to explore the surroundings with the crunch of leaves underfoot. As winter sets in, so does peace and quiet. It seems that the snow always falls more gently down here as we are protected from the howling west winds. Bring your cross-country skis or snow shoes. The home includes two bedrooms. The master has a queen-size bed and enough space for a portable crib. Second bedroom has a full-size bed, plus there's a full sofa sleeper in the living room. The recently renovated bathroom has a tile shower and nice vanity. The living room is classic knotty pine with a wood-burning fireplace and comfortable furniture. There is a large-screen TV and WiFi conection. The large kitchen/dining area has all you need to cook and serve your group. There's also a built-in desk area. The mudroom has front-loading washer and dryer, plus there's an attached garage with opener. Any time of year -- you will relax and have fun at Windmill Beach.
