For vegetarians only! Finally, a hilltop vacation get-away where you know your vegetarian lifestyle is the rule, not the exception. Enjoy exceptional quiet, fabulous views, easy access, a fun mountain town, and the peace of mind that comes in knowing you are cooking in a home that has been cruelty-free since it was built. The town of Evergreen is only a few minutes downhill and offers shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores, as well as a fine cultural life, seasonal festivals, a recreational lake, and miles of hiking trails and other mountain activities available. Denver is about 35 minutes to the east and some of the world??s best ski areas are an hour to the west. Blue skies, sweet breezes, friendly people, and a vacation home of your own ?? what more could you ask? Oh, yeah, a skillet that has never held a dead fish and an oven that has never cooked a big, dead bird! You can read further about our commitment on this point below. The house sleeps eight ?? three queen-sized beds (two private, one sleeper sofa in the living room) and a day-bed and a futon in the open loft area ?? and has two full baths. Washer and dryer; all linens provided. Full kitchen with gas stove, food processor, juicer, Crockpot, etc. Gas stove in the living room for ambiance. Books, stereo, TV/DVD (no cable TV or on site internet access ?? coming soon). To see more pictures look below! The house was custom designed and built in 1999 by master craftsman Larry Strock of Lakewood, Colorado. It has many vaastu-shastra* features, including exclusively East-West entrances and Southeast kitchen. It has a wrap-around covered porch, knotty pine interior woodwork, and 360 degree views through the abundant windows. The hillside has a number of indigenous trees and native grasses. There is a feeling of serenity and solitude as the house sits atop the hill, even though there are several other homes in the area. You cannot help loving the experience of this place! The mountain road is maintained all year by the Town of Evergreen. Snowplows make their way up the mountain after each snowfall, so just wait a little bit if the road is snowy before you head out on a snowy morning. (Four-wheel drive is best in the deep winter for the rather steep hills.) *vaastu-shastra is the ancient Indian precursor to the Chinese feng shui, aimed at maximizing the harmony between human living spaces and the energetic environment. Our Mutual Commitments: The use of our house by and for people who care that meat has not been cooked or eaten in it is very important to us. If you're not vegetarians, welcome! But please enjoy your meaty meals in town - there's lots to choose from. We ask you to promise . . . That you will not have, cook, or eat meat in the house, including fish and poultry.
