Description

A peaceful guesthouse with a private hot tub and garden, nestled against hills in the joshua tree highlands neighborhood. Designed for light, rest and privacy, 5 minutes from the village and the entrance to the stunning joshua tree national park. The casita is a cool, clean, spacious new spanish-style building, full of light and beautiful views. It has it's own hot tub, patio, and walled garden. It is furnished simply, with an international aesthetic, and ease and comfort in mind. It sleeps up to four adults (one queen sized bed, one queen pull out sofa) and has a full bath with tub and shower, a compact kitchen, and ample storage. A few minutes walk down the dirt road leads you to the gorgeous desert trails of the joshua tree highlands preserve, filled with wildlife, rock formations and sweeping views across the valley. The famous desert sunsets can be taken in from the private hot tub and patio. Your hosts are jenny, an herbalist who has been a part of the community for 13 years, and her partner myshkin, a musician new to joshua tree. The space comes stocked with organic coffee, teas, body care products and gourmet chocolate from jenny's apothecary, grateful desert herb shoppe & ecomarket. There is an eclectic library of books, movies and music, a dvd player (no tv reception) , and a cd / cassette / record player. The guesthouse is a one-room studio apartment style space, separate from but near to the property's main house, built for sonic and visual privacy. Cooking facilities include an outdoor grill, a fridge, two burner range, microwave, toaster-oven and electric-kettle, dishes and cooking gear. If there is anything you should need to borrow, please feel free to ask us. Casita de la luna is queer friendly, a peaceful, family space. A stay at the casita offers you an insider's connection to the unique local culture of the arts and healing hideout that is joshua tree. We have a menu of services and contact info for the best area bodyworkers, yoga instructors, and other teachers and healers, and plenty of suggestions for accessing all the quirky art and culture the area has to offer. We like to greet guests on arrival and make sure all looks good to you, but consider your privacy paramount to an enjoyable stay, and aim to stay out of your way! We are just next door though, and available to sort out any questions or issues. The joshua tree highlands neighborhood climbs up the mountains on the south side of town, bordered on the south and west by the highlands nature preserve, and the east by road out to the national park. The terrain is thick with desert vegetation, the houses are far apart, and and the views are incredible, sweeping across the valley to the north, and into the park on the east. The neighborhood has a night sky ordinance that asks folks to keep outdoor lights to a minimum, so the stars can work their magic.
