Welcome to Bob & Jeanne's Northwoods Retreat on beautiful Little Spider Lake! Located in world renown, Vilas County Wisconsin, we are in the Northern Highlands American Legion State Forest, just 4 miles north of Minocqua/Woodruff. A 3 hour, 10 minute ride from Madison, 4:30 from Milwaukee or Minneapolis and about 5 hours from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The Minocqua/Woodruff/Arbor Vitae area is beautiful all 4 seasons and boasts incredible natural resources, including 2,300 freshwater lakes (the highest concentration in the world), 850,000 acres of state and national forest land, 68 hiking/snowmobile trails covering over 600 miles and 23 'Great Wisconsin Birding' trails. The area was also declared '1 of the 25 coolest Midwest Lake Vacation Spots' by Midwest Living Magazine and was selected as the '5th Best Fishing Town in America' by Field & Stream Magazine. If you can't find something to do here....you really aren't trying very hard! You can do everything or just kick back and relax...and that's one of the best reasons to visit this area! The cabin offers 1500 sq. ft. of space, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 8 people. There's a big stone fireplace in the living room, a sunroom facing the lake with fantastic western views, and a newly remodeled kitchen with new stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, solid countertops and hardwood cabinets. Washer and dryer are downstairs. When you first walk in the house, you are going to be impressed...not just with the property, but by how clean everything is! Master bedroom has a king bed and adjoining bath with shower. Second bedroom has twin/double bunk bed, third bedroom has twin/twin bunk and a seperate twin bed. Across the paved driveway is a basketball hoop by the 2+ car garage with foosball table and plenty of storage for your car, boat, snowmobiles and gear. The property sits on 2 acres with mature oak, pine, maple and birch and includes over 100 feet of sand and small rocks frontage. The beach is accessed by a newly built 60 step staircase with an 8' x 12' deck halfway down; an excellent place to while away the evening hours! We groom the shoreline regularly to provide above average swimming for young and old alike. The water is very clean and clear and we have a gently sloping swimming area that gets about 1 foot deeper every 10 feet that you move out. Little Spider Lake is a great fishing lake and relatively quiet with a population of eagles, loons and blue herons. Although there are quite a few properties on the lake, many are seasonal and aren't always occupied. Also, Bob and Jeanne's Northwoods Retreat faces an undeveloped state owned shoreline. In addition, there is less than average traffic from non-residents on the lake so sitting out on either of the two decks on the lake side or the private dock is very quiet and relaxing. The vista overlooking the length of the lake is a view that memories are made of!!
