Hyggelig (hoo-ga-lee) is a Danish word expressing an atmosphere of well-being, comfort, and togetherness: a grand coziness found right here in Marshallberg, NC! Marshallberg is a peaceful little fishing village on Core Sound with a sense of place and permanence. Marshallberg streets are perfect for dog-walking and biking. Its shallow shores are ideal for clamming, birding, and kayaking. Cape Lookout, Harker's Island and Shackleford Banks are a short boat ride from the Marshallberg boat ramp. Hyggelig is a 5 minute walk from the harbor, a waterfront park and a boat ramp. With spacious rooms, large windows and wooden floors, the home brings the outside in. Large windows join the enclosed back porch to the large plank pine floors and the wood stove in the living room. The kitchen and dining room overlook azaleas and large pines in the front yard. The main bedroom is a suite, sleeping 2 to 4. It has two sleeping areas, a walk-in closet, a large bathroom with garden tub and shower, and access to a large deck shaded by wisteria. The second bedroom sleeps two and has a full bath and access to the backyard through a sweet little stoop. The backyard is your own private park shaded by pecan, maple, fig, and pear trees. Proximity to conveniences and nearby attractions We are located midway between Atlantic Beach and the Cedar Island-Ocracoke ferry and less than 30 minutes from Beaufort and the ferry at Harker's Island. Marshallberg is on a 0.64 square mile peninsula along Core Sound just 3 miles off the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. It's population is just over 400. We have a convenience store (gas, ice, beer, etc.), 2 churches, a fire station, several backyard boat builders, a post office, a fishing harbor, a boat ramp, and a waterfront park with views of Cape Lookout light house and Harker's Island. And great streets for walking and biking.
