Description
St. Teresa is a very private and secluded white sandy beach. The original beach playground for the 'well-heeled' in Tallahassee, St. Teresa has a colorful history and remains one of Florida's unspoiled beach communities. Located in the heart of the 'Forgotten Coast', a unique beach experience awaits you. If you are looking for convenience to strip malls, traffic jams, and crowds, this is not the experience for you. Take off your shoes and sport your shades...this is the original Florida beach destination. A few minutes east is the fishing village of Panacea, with fresh seafood and local restaurants. Also in Panacea is a public aquarium that is definitely worth the nominal admission charge. Westward a few minutes is the Seineyard Restaurant in SummerCamp. Located on the water, the restaurant offers local fare, and great views of the sunset. They also serve beer and wine and quickly will become your 'watering hole'. Further west about 20 minutes is the Lanark Village 'Yacht Club' with a fine boat ramp, parking and bait. Continuing west is the town of Eastpoint, where the oysterman still hand rake the oysters from skiffs and the waterside packing houses are reminiscent of a time gone by. Only about 45 minutes west of the house is the quaint artist community of Apalachicola. Make a day of it and visit the boutique shops, stroll along the wharf where the shrimp boats are moored, or sample the craft beers or hand-made chocolates. And of course, the oyster bars are a must-visit for world famous Apalachicola Bay oysters...fixed any way you can imagine. And of course, just relax in the hammock on the screened porch and watch the water and listen to the gentle waves. Bottlenose dolphins are frequent visitors, along with sea turtles and numerous shore birds. Take a flashlight to the beach at night to chase the 'ghost crabs' as they shuffle towards their burrows. Build a fire on the beach and enjoy the unspoiled view of the night sky. There are few places left where you can do these things. This is the ultimate getaway to old Florida. No phone, no cable and no internet (although excellent 4G cell reception). Enjoy the peace and solitude of the forgotten coast!
