Description

"Casetta di Santi" (Italian for "little home of the saints") is a 1926 beach bungalow in lovely South Redondo Beach in Southern California, five short blocks from the ocean. Walking directly west from the property, you arrive at the coastal area that encompasses the Redondo Pier (a tourist destination) and a small yacht harbor - King Harbor. This area is flanked by beautiful beaches to the north and south. From the house, you are walking distance to Starbucks, Whole Foods market, Rite Aid, McDonalds and numerous excellent restaurants, and cafes. The property is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood close enough to drive within an hour to all the LA tourist destinations like Disneyland and Universal Studios, but far enough away to make you feel that you're in another world. Around the corner from the house is a small park with play equipment for children. Although we have retained its wonderful cottage character and warmth, the Casetta has recently been remodeled to create an open kitchen with views to the beautiful backyard from the living room. New hardwood floors have been added throughout. French doors open out from the kitchen to the first patio which provides outdoor dining for eight people. The kitchen area includes a breakfast table for four, as well as a bar for two. The house is furnished thoughtfully with guests in mind. One of the cottage's two bathrooms can be accessed from a back door that opens onto the garden, making for an easy beach wash-off. The garden is one of the property's nicest features, arranged around three separate patios, each lined with plants and trees that bloom year-round "Casetta di Santi" gets its name from the statues of Saints Francis, Anthony and Mary, all of which were gifts to the owner over a 20 year period, and are nestled in the leafy grottoes of the garden. These saints have faithfully showered continuous blessings on all those who dwell in the Casetta for a generation, a decade, or even a few days.
