Aloha! Ascend the 7 stairs at Mama J's Pond House.You may be tempted to walk to the end of the 300sq ft deck & check out the large private pond before entering this lovely Hawaiian style home. Then enter the greatroom w/ vaulted ceilings. Open some windows so you can hear the ocean. Get settled into 1 of the 2bdrms thru the archway on your left. There is a lightswitch on rt side of Arch Room to illuminate the pond for a view from inside whilst you unpack if you've arrived at night. Each of the 2 bdrms has new (2013) Cal king bed w/ new 100% cotton sheets & 4 pillows ea. 2 extra pillows,quilts & afghans on closet shelf in Arch Room. Altho' ea bdrm is basically the same in size w/ nightstand, alarm clock, bedside lamp, Hawaiiana artwork, ceiling fan & a luggage rack, they ea have their own unique features. Deckside bdrm toward front of house has screened sliding glass door opening onto the deck. It has a small closet for things you may need to hang up. Seaside bdrm toward back of house is a bit breezier w/ extra window affording peek-a-boo view of Wai Opae Marine Sanctuary. This is the side the sun comes up on but curtains are dark so you can sleep. It has its' own small balcony w/ 2 chairs & a table. Perfect for watching the sun come up on the ocean or having a bit of outdoor privacy if you are traveling w/ others. Altho' there is no closet in this rm, there are hooks on the back of the bdrm door and a small closet in Arch Room to hang your things. You may smoke on deck or seaside bedroom's lanai using provided ashtrays. PLEASE shut the windows &/or door closeby to keep inside of our home smokefree. Mahalo (Thank You) for respecting our home concerning this rule. The Arch Room is large and adds to the spacious feel of our home. There is a beautiful teak writing desk in there. Also a landline for Big Island outgoing calls. Use your calling card for long distance. As you will find w/ most places in Puna District, cell phone reception is spotty. AT&T seems to work best. This landline has been provided for your safety & convenience. There is a new regulation size ping-pong table in this room. Electronic plastic-tip dart board game at end of hall. See rules for some dart games in top drawer of desk. Bathrm is big by Hawaii standards. There are 3 tiled stairs (please watch your step!) leading to a beautiful sunken shower stall. The shower has good water pressure. There are 2 small frosted windows in bathrm that may be left open for that peek-a-boo view of the ocean as you walk in. They are up high enough and no neighbor back there, you will still have your privacy. There is a w/d in a corner of the bathrm. Bath towels are provided as are beach towels. Please take only beach towels (colorful ones on bottom shelf) outside of house. There is a laundry hamper behind bathrm door. There is a shower (coldwater only) to rt of front door stairs for rinsing off after the 5min walk to the tidepools. Hang your suits & towels on the clothesline at top of stairs so that they're ready to go again! In the bathrm we have provided shampoo, bodywash and air freshener. They are all products w/ scent so you may wish to bring your own. Kitchen has a 4 burner gas stove w/ oven. Service for 8. Ice-maker in freezer of the full size fridge. There are basics such as toaster, 12 cup coffee machine, microwave & some pots n' pans. Think you will find everthing you need but may wish to inquire further if you are used to cooking gourmet meals. Salt, pepper, a few basic seasonings, cooking oil and soy sauce provided. 1 roll papertowels, coffee filters, dishsoap & sponge provided. No auto dishwasher but there is a pretty peek-a-boo of the ocean when perching on the bar stool at the sink. Our water supply is from the city so it is safe to drink. Weber grill on site. Please byo charcoal. Please no grilling on the deck but there is a lovely outdoor space close to the deck, ask. Bbq tools provided. The greatroom (living rm/ kitchen) has 2 ceiling fans and lots of screene
