A short distance from the island is the historic town of Beaufort. There you can enjoy a variety of dining, shopping, and sightseeing options, as well as the Maritime Museum. In Morehead City and Bogue Banks are charter fishing boats, the Civil War era Fort Macon, and the NC Acquarium. Whatever you end up doing, you will find yourself having a wonderful time.
