Description

A woodland retreat! Stay overnight - options available, half day, overnight or the entire month! May use the TT, vehicles and sports gear on site. Ideal scenario: you own beach, seaside home or island - we meet and swap homes for awhile. I'll give you the keys to my truck at the airport:) Situated in the middle of two mountains near a stream with a private stocked pond located in a hidden valley of over 2100, mostly wooded, acres, Features a huge wrap around deck and extended deck with a gazebo near the pond, partially covered front and back deck that offer total privacy. Inside you will find an open floor plan with living room, dining room, and kitchen combined. The large living area includes an entertainment system, ceiling fan, and a wood stove for chilly nights. Large walk in pantry with a washer and dryer. The second floor consists of a cozy loft with a Queen bed and a skylight to see the stars. The other two bedrooms upstairs each have a queen bed and have a half bath conveniently located between the bedrooms. There is Travel Trailer (TT) parked along the stream in the backyard, bring air mattresses or sleeping bags. Located in the northern Shenandoah Valley near Winchester, Virginia, the Capon Bridge Getaway is about two hours from downtown Washington DC. There is plenty to do on the property including a hot tub, exploring onsite nature trails; 4 wheeling, bike riding, fishing, tennis, horseshoes, hunting, playing in the cool, clear, mountain stream, or simply relaxing and taking in the mountain views from the peaceful, secluded decks. The lot is 5 acres in size and has plenty of room to roam around. Bring some camping gear and set up a tent right near the stream if you like. There is also a community swimming lake and fishing pond for guest to use. If you do decide to venture out, there are numerous Civil War battlefields within a short drive of the cottage. You will also find two national forests and the Shenandoah National Park close by. A guest book with information about local attractions is provided. Please note that a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended for access to the house during winter months. The historic Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad, one of America's most beautiful train rides, departs from Romney, only 30 minutes away. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, which takes you through the spectacular scenery of the Allegheny Mountains in Western Maryland, departs from Cumberland, less than an hour away. Crystal Valley Ranch, 30 minutes away, provides Wilderness Horse Trail Rides and Horse Riding Lessons. Pliska Winery, a picturesque vineyard and farm winery with tasting room and vineyard visits is in Purgitsville and open by appointment. Ice Mountain/Nature Conservancy Preserve offers tours that depart from Slanesville, 30 minutes away. Free guided tours by arrangement (2-week lead time requested). Good physical condition is necessary to tackle these hikes. Also in nearby Romney are the Davis History House and the Indian Mound Cemetery. Cumberland and Winchester, less than an hour away, offer historical sites, fine dining, live music, and theater opportunities. Drive to downtown Berkeley Springs and explore the antique shops, craft stores, Berkeley Castle, local coffee shops, and gourmet restaurants. Relax and pamper yourself at the various spas of Berkeley Springs. Need more things to do? Take in a movie at the Star Theater, visit the Berkeley Springs Museum, or see the latest art exhibits at the Ice House Artists' Co-Op Gallery. The cottage is also close to: Cacapon State Park for golf, swimming, hiking, & horseback riding. Pawpaw C & O Canal- Historic Harper's Ferry- Outlet Shopping at Hagerstown- White Tail Ski Resorts, Charles Town Horse Races, and gaming tables.
